Where found:
Throughout boreal, temperate, subtropical, and tropical regions of the world. Hardwoods and rarely conifers.

Oak, tan oak, alder, poplar, aspen, elm, ironwood, eucalyptus, apple, cherry, and other fruits

Known Remediation/Restoration potential:
Known to sequester mercury and filter Escherichia coli, Listeria monocytogenes, Candida albicans, and Aspergillus species. Has also been shown to effectively break down many PAHs including pyrenes, fluorine, and styrene, as well as pentochlorophenols, TNT, CCA, dioxins, anthracenes, and persistent organophosphates.
